What are the generic skills in the new curriculum in Uganda?

Generic skills in the new curriculum sometimes called the Competence based curriculum in Uganda are emphasized by UNEB (Uganda National Examinations Board).
UNEB emphasizes that the development of generic skills, also known as core or employability skills, alongside subject-specific knowledge. 
Generic skills are believed to be crucial for students’ success in various aspects of life, including further education, employment, and personal development. UNEB’s curriculum and assessments aim to foster these skills, which include communication, problem-solving, critical thinking, and teamwork. 

Core New Curriculum Generic Skills:
1. Communication Skills: This includes both written and oral communication, enabling students to express themselves clearly and effectively. 
2. Problem-Solving Skills: The ability to identify problems, analyze them, and develop solutions is a key generic skill. 
3. Critical Thinking Skills: This involves evaluating information, forming judgments, and making sound decisions. 
4. Teamwork and Collaboration Skills: The capacity to work effectively with others, share ideas, and contribute to a common goal is essential. 
5. Self-Management Skills: This encompasses time management, organization, and the ability to take responsibility for one’s own learning and actions. 
6. Interpersonal Skills: The ability to build and maintain positive relationships with others, including empathy and understanding. 
7. ICT Skills: Proficiency in using computers and other digital technologies for communication, research, and other tasks.
